A QUICK GUIDE FOR STAFF MEMBERS WHO MAY INTERACT WITH ICE
If an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent arrives at our offices, immediately contact your supervisor. Do not let them in.
DO
- REMAIN CALM.
- VERIFY THE IDENTITY OF THE ICE AGENTS.
- CLOSE OR LOCK YOUR LAPTOP IMMEDIATELY.
- INFORM ALL STAFF OF ICE AGENTS AT OUR OFFICES.
- INFORM OUR CLIENTS OF THEIR RIGHTS.
- HAND CLIENTS A RED CARD.
- ASK ICE AGENTS FOR A WARRANT.
- ASK ICE AGENTS TO SLIDE DOCUMENTS UNDER THE DOOR.
- REMEMBER THAT OFFICE ACCESS CAN ONLY BE APPROVED BY A DIRECTOR WHO HAS REVIEWED A WARRANT.
- REMEMBER YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.
- REMEMBER YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO COUNSEL.
DO NOT
- KEEP DOCUMENTS OUT IN PLAIN VIEW.
- LEAVE YOUR LAPTOP OPEN OR UNLOCKED.
- ALLOW ICE AGENTS INTO OUR OFFICE SPACE WITHOUT A WARRANT.
- LIE TO AGENTS.
- OBSTRUCT OR RESIST ICE AGENTS IF THEIR ACTIONS ARE WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE WARRANT.
- SHARE ANY INFORMATION WITHOUT A WARRANT.
- SIGN ANYTHING.

- "I AM NOT AUTHORIZED TO SPEAK WITH YOU."
- "I NEED TO CONTACT OUR ATTORNEY."
- "I DO NOT WANT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS."
- "I DO NOT CONSENT TO YOUR ENTRY."
- "DO YOU HAVE A WARRANT? PLEASE PASS IT UNDER THE DOOR."
- "I DO NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO ENTER."
- "AM I BEING DETAINED? AM I FREE TO GO?"
